Wednesday Apr 24, 2019
We're bringing you more Chattanooga Film Festival goodness this week. Click and dive into our inspirational conversation with "I Trapped The Devil" filmmaker Josh Lobo as we discuss how failure can lead to revelatory success. This horror tone poem seeps into the pores of viewers, engaging their dread as only the best terror films can. We discuss the many inspirations that went into the film, the challenges of realizing such a unique vision, and the excitement of unleashing your project upon the world.
"I Trapped The Devil" lands in select theaters as well as VOD and On Demand this weekend. We encourage you to see it on the biggest screen possible but don't think a personal TV watch deters the tension in any way. Our dork co-hosts experienced the films in both venues and had intense physical reactions.

ChatCast 7 - Emilio Estevez on 'The Public'
Thursday Apr 04, 2019
Thursday Apr 04, 2019
The Dorks return to the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, VA to partake in the Lost Weekend XI film festival. Joining them on the show this week is writer/director/producer/actor Emilio Estevez to discuss his new film, "The Public." When one of the coldest nights of the year occurs, a group of homeless men refuses to leave when the Cincinnati public library closes for the night. This act of civil disobedience quickly escalates when the police, government, and media become involved and one librarian must choose where to stand.
For over a decade, Estevez worked vigilantly to realize this passion project, and it is clear from our conversation that the subject matter means a great deal to the artist. The Dorks were thrilled to have the opportunity to chat with the actor about why he became involved in the project and how he maintained his enthusiasm after so many years of pre-production.

SXSW may be weeks behind us, but the Dorks are still bringing you conversations from Austin. This week, Brad & Lisa chat with documentarian Erin Lee Carr & journalist Jesse Barron regarding the upcoming HBO two-part documentary "I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth Vs. Michelle Carter." This is a fascinating dive into the manslaughter case brought against Michelle Carter after her final texts to Conrad Roy implicated her in his suicide. We discuss the enormous amount of information that had to be sifted through, organized, and compiled into a narrative.

ChatCast 5 - Karen Maine & Natalia Dyer on 'Yes, God, Yes'
Wednesday Mar 20, 2019
Wednesday Mar 20, 2019
With Yes, God, Yes writer/director Karen Maine is joining a conversation predominately orchestrated by male filmmakers where masturbation is either raucously championed as a lark or sheepishly whispered as serious sexy business. Her film follows the plight of a young 90s Catholic girl (Natalia Dyer) who discovers masturbation after an AOL chat turns salacious. The act is transformative. Not necessarily in just sexual terms, but in how it exposes the hypocrisy of every elder that surrounds her.

An American legend, Sam Elliott, storms into the Pacific Northwest to hunt down another American legend, The Bigfoot. The man lived the hell of war before, met evil face to face, and obliterated it for the good of the rest of us. "The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot" is no ordinary movie. Nor is it the film you may think it is based on that glorious title.
This week, we speak to writer/director Robert D. Krzykowski and discuss how this magnificent, contemplative adventure film came to fruition. The road to cinema was long and aided by champions like John Sayles, Lucky McKee, Douglas Trumbull, and Sam Elliott himself. The conversation ranges from the influence of Mister Rogers to the glorious cinematography of "The Adventures of Robin Hood."

ChatCast 3 - Dan Gilroy and Friends
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
This week MouthDork chats with a whole mess load of people. Over the phone, we talk with "Velvet Buzzsaw" writer/director Dan Gilroy about his desire to tear into the art world and rip it a new one. We discuss his love/hate relationship with the business of moviemaking and why Jake Gyllenhaal is such a perfect tool for his narratives. We also time travel back to Sundance where we speak to supporting cast members Billy Magnussen, Natalia Dyer, and Rene Russo.
If that were not enough, we also have a bonus red carpet conversation with director/actor Chiwetel Ejiofor regarding his recently released Netflix film "The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind." This film reduced us to a puddle and is absolutely worth your time.
